Piece(s) of the Week | Coffee + Tea

I find that more and more brides are looking for a unique or pretty way to display their desserts.. BUT since I don't typically have pretty desserts at my beckon call I decided to go for a different approach (the "use what I have approach") and display what you use to eat the sweets with.

I started with our drawer-less desk, added the hutch and filled it with stacks of tea cups and saucers and the dessert plates. *the hutch can hold about 40 tea cups & saucers. You can always add an additional small table to display more. I actually walked away at this point and considered my project finished but then an hour later I came back and started adding. I began with the coffee tin and heart "muffin" tin at the bottom, this is where I decided it would all revolve around baking and drinking coffee + tea.  Hence the stacks of tea bags and vessel full of baking tools. I was inspired and found coffee filters. Without a plan I started to make coffee filter flowers and dye them with coffee. I added them to the distressed door, several different times, and no matter what I was going to use these filters. As if I had a plan I pulled out some of our frames, added menus and voila!

Piece(s) of the Week

Well, it's been awhile! (I think I say that every time I blog) Jason & I have been pondering this idea for awhile now & since it's coming close to "the end"of the season I decided to just go for it and introduce our {Piece(s) of the Week} post. We love our inventory and I know you do too, so we'd like to show you how to use some pieces, give you some ideas and hopefully inspire you! I'm not going to lie, this is also a really good excuse for me to play once a week and get some creativity out.. it's kind of hard to be creative while carrying 100 lb. tables around.

I love Fall but unfortunately I feel like I miss out on it every year. This week I took a little bit of Fall and a little bit of Halloween and got inspired! Enjoy!

It's Amazing What You Can Create. . .

I have to admit, it's been awhile since Jason and I had some time to devote to coming up with creative ideas (or even finding pieces for that matter!) Now that June has passed us and we were able to take a week "off" we feel back to normal. We didn't waste any time this weekend: estate sales on Saturday morning and antique stores in the evening. On Sunday we were up and out the door by 5:45am so we can hit two of our favorite flea markets, some stores in Adamstown and even made a table delivery to Philly. It was quite the day in so many ways, but my favorite part of this weekend was when we did made some ground breaking discoveries.
About a week ago we were approached about bistro tables for an upcoming event. No, we don't have bistro tables BUT if you know me at all by now you know that I never like to say no, whether it's to a client or to a challenge. The fact that Jason has 10 more tables to go for the end of July he didn't even want to give this one a thought but the more he says no the more I want to move forward... yeah I know, poor Jason. So I started to secretly plan for these tables in my head. Spools were part of the creation but I just didn't have the legs down yet. Well thanks to the good ol' flea market this problem was solved! Jason and I stumbled upon this amazing booth and found a bucket full of metal springs from a tractor. Instantly we both knew what they should be used for and I came home on Sunday with that grin on my face that said "I told you so"

Borrowed Recap!

I can't believe it has come and gone already! but man was the ride worth it... Borrowed is kind of where it all began. It was last January when Maggpie received an email from a very enthusiastic Natalie Fava of Birdhouse Productions (& Borrowed). She had so much to say about who she was, how she was excited to find us & this idea of a wedding show called Borrowed. The launching of Maggpie was so new at this point we of course were just as excited as she was and jumped on board immediately. Well a lot of you know that it all started happening from there... we met Jillian & Ryan from Jillian McGrath Photography, we met Sullivan from Sullivan Owen Floral & Event Design & we were even brought on board to be a part of one of Borrowed shoots. So for us this wasn't just some wedding show we waited around a year for.. it was so much more than that.

We were asked pretty early on to provide the lounge for Borrowed & we all had this idea of a men's lounge. I'm not quite sure what Natalie had in mind but I had an idea and I figured.. yeah we'll do darker colors, some leather.. like a man cave. It wasn't until 2 weeks prier to Borrowed that it hit me.. .umm this lounge is based around Borrowed, not Maggpie, not our inventory.. it's for Borrowed.. so we need to make it scream Borrowed. It never fails to think of these ideas so close to the date, but that's just the way it works in our world. The pictures pretty much speak for themselves (thanks Jill & Ryan :) but I'll do a little recap.

Jason & I have had these large spools for quite some time now.. (thanks to Jason who randomly found them one day & thought nothing of it to bring them home to our garage). So I think it started with the spools, then it moved on to connecting a lampshade to each spool.. then it worked out that we had just enough spools to dedicate one to each Borrowed color. So 100's of bows later came my starting point. Next I had to figure out what I had in our inventory that was red, teal, purple (this was a tough one) and yellow. At the very end I decided that each section needed it's own shades of pillows with a heart at the end of each.. I mean why not? (thanks to my Mom & her sewing skills). I knew I wasn't going to know how it turned out until I got there and set it all up but I was so happy with it and it seemed like everyone else was too!

O! & how about those flowers.. flowers always make everything look better. Thanks Sullivan!!!

Oh yeah... we had a booth there too :) I was a little more excited about the lounge though ...

UPenn Law

Jason & I had the pleasure of venturing to Philadelphia last week & be a part of an event at the Penn Law School with Stephen Starr Events! We were brought on board to create an atmosphere for the place cards.. we were pretty happy with the outcome and it's nice to see how versatile our pieces really can be.  (pardon the pictures.. they were taken with a phone, naturally)

Hey check out that bookcase on the right.. it's a Jason original ;)
